I used these for 3 months in a pottery class. Honestly, they are about as good as what the studio has, so I hesitate to even say for beginners only. The sponge wore out within a month or two, but everything else is going strong. Can easily recommend this for a great product at a great price.
My kids had a blast using these tools to sculpt clay into whatever their imaginations could think up. The wire cutter got bent and tangled on the first day but that was was definitely due to misuse by the kids. I also removed the pointed tool as it was definitely not appropriate for kids.
This set comes with all the primary tools you need as a beginning pottery student. They all work great and very feel well-made. They do exactly what they are supposed to do and are half the cost of the set I would have had to buy through my school! They're not aesthetically perfect - the carving tools I received have a little glue exposed in them - but it doesn't at all detract from tools' utility. It's a great tool set at an excellent value. I highly recommend it.
Nice basic tool set. Nothing fancy but definitely will get you started and do the job. But don’t let your trimming tools stay wet they will rust fast. My bad I should have known better than to keep them in the plastic bag they came in and not take out the sponge. Happy potting.
I bought these for a Pottery class that I took and they are quality tools that the teacher was impressed with. She was even thinking of ordering the set in bulk. I've had this set for 2 years and all of it is in perfect condition so I know that they tools are made well. I definitely recommend this set for classes of all skill level. The set includes all you will need for throwing and trimming, besides the clay and wheel!
These tools are rather large. Good for pottery wheel projects. I needed them a bit smaller but they still work fine. Includes all the basic clay tools plus a few others.
Basic set for my secondary kick wheel. The wire cutters are really long and somewhat thin but overall a nice set for a beginner or for a lesser used space like me
This is a prefect kit for beginners or students. The case is a bit small so you really have to cram the items into it, but for the price it's definitely worth it. More advanced or experienced potters would want better quality tools.
I am impressed with these clay sculpting tools. I bought them for my Grandson, I have no idea if he will enjoy working with clay but you never know till you try it. He is always bored so I figured it was a small price if he doesn't like it. I figured he could look up working with clay on the internet to get ideas. (I LOVE the internet!) I also bought him a 5 pound chunk of air dry clay. Maybe if he does, I will know what to give him other Christmas's! These tools are pretty nice. The wooden pieces and sanded very smooth and there is everything one needs to use to make whatever you like. Worth the price!
