As with all Proctor-Silex items, this can opener was as described, easy to assemble and use, and easy to clean. The item arrived in the time span promised and was not damaged in transit (something that is not a guarantee these days). My wife was pleased with the purchased.

I had one of these many years ago and when it died, I never purchased another one. I simply used the manual one, which finally broke and made opening cans almost impossible. I purchased another manual can opener, which also broke within a year. It was still usable but not easy. My hand cramped everytime I tried to open a can. Hence, the order of the power can opener. I don't know if it's wonderful or I'm just happy to have another opener. It's not very tall, so it won't open the taller cans. But, it works fine for the normal sized 8 oz cans.

What ever happened to predictability? You have a can opener that you let get to close to a pan and it turns into a Picasso, don't laugh I'm a dude so according to society I shouldn't be able to do much more that scratch myself without causing a 3 alarm fire. Nevertheless I turned our old can opener into a piece of modern art and needed a new one. Upon taking the nightmarish trip to the local *mart I was more than disappointed in the pricing structure of can openers. There were ones that sharpened knifes, played music, and I believe could launch a satellite to mars, all while, I believe, opening cans. So finally, laughing to myself I came home and got on amazon. Now for the official review. This can opener opens cans..... well! Let me say that again. The can opener, that I bought to specifically open cans, opens cans well. It opens small cans, big cans, even really freakin' tall cans. I did not try the knife sharper thingy because years ago we bought those knifes where the sharp dressed dude comes to your house once a year and sharpens them for you. The best part is it didn't cost me half a days pay and it opens cans. I have no problem with anything falling off and its built really well. In closing this can opener opens cans, and does a god job at it.

I was sooo excited to notice that I could just push down the lever and let go! It holds the can on it's own and cleanly opens all my cans. My previous can opener would get stuck, and make this awful chainsaw-like noise.

I am amazed how it can even open big cans like tomato juice. It was a great buy

I couldn't believe how great this can opener works,, I read the reviews and dob't understand the low star ratings, It is perfect for my kitchen, It opens cans with ease,, I am going to buy two more for gifts,, 5 stars here.

We have been through a lot of CanOpener‘s over the years and our family loves this CanOpener! It is definitely top notch! This is the best can opener that I have ever had and it opens with ease and you don't have to hold the can while you're using it, as you do on some others. Very durable, long-lasting, and does not rust, no issues and still going strong! Highly recommend!

This item also has a built-in knife sharpener on the back of the unit. All my knives were sharpened nicely after swiping the blades 3-5 times and continued to stay sharp. Cleaning is simple; the can opener blade removes easily and snaps back on without a problem.

I did not realize how much issue I was having with my hands until I went to use my hand held can opener, and was having issues with my hands while trying to use it. I broke down and looked and picked this item out. I was worried that it would only do small cans and so thankful that I was wrong.

Works great! I kept breaking my hand crank can opener plus having painful joints in the hand this is a life saver. It is NOT a safe edge cutter if that's what you're looking for. I knew that buying because i prefer to be able to use the top of the can to drain the can.
